What is the minimum stay?
The minimum stay is 2 days, check in at 3pm (flexible depending on occupancy); check out at 1pm (flexible depending on occupancy)
Can you customize individual cycling tours?
Yes we can; you must let us know at least 60 days in advance so we can prepare your custom tour accordingly
What are the best airports to fly to?
Malaga or Granada – Travel time from Malaga airport is about one hour and 50 minutes and from Granada airport around 45 minutes.
Are airport transfers available?
Malaga and Granada airport transfers can be arranged upon request – inquire at train@losolivoscttc.info
What should my level of fitness be for cycling in this area?
Because there are many hills in this part of Andalucia, you should be fit enough to be able to ride between 60-100 kms in a day in varied terrain on a road bike. MTB trails are also hilly and the same level of fitness applies.
What cycling equipment do I need to bring?
We recommend that you bring 2-3 pairs of standard cycling kit for the summer. You will also need sunglasses and sun protection. In the winter months, you are recommended to bring waterproof and warm cycling gear and long fingered warm gloves, it can get very cold especially on the descents. Cycling helmet is a must.
Can I use my own bike?
It is recommended to bring your own bike and we advise to use compact and semi-compact cranks with at least 11/28 cassettes. Although there are very good bikes shops and mechanics in town that can help you solve any mechanical issues we recommend to bring any spare parts you think cannot be easily found in most bike shops. Do I need to have travel/health insurance?
You must have a travel insurance policy that includes cover for sports activities. This must include road cycling and/or mountain biking, and repatriation to your home country. You will need to provide us with your insurance policy number(s) and emergency contact details prior to your arrival. If you do not have appropriate insurance you will not be able to ride.
What happens in case of an accident?
An accident affecting one of our guest cyclists will be treated by the Spanish authorities and emergency services in charge of the zone where the accident occurs. The house and support vehicles are provided with first aid supplies to treat small accidents that do not require the intervention of the authorities.
What is the minimum age for a solo guest?
The minimum age for a solo guest is 21 years old; guests under that age must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Are there other activities in the area?
The city of Granada is just 50 kms away where you can visit the Alhambra Palace, see real Flamenco in the gypsy caves, or just spend the day shopping and sightseeing. There are many other historical towns within easy reach and the town of Alcala la Real has a museum and castle (fort) that are well worth a visit.
Is a hired car required?
It is not necessary to have a hired car, however, if you plan to take personal trips in the area you will need to have your own transportation.
Can I use internet at the house?
Yes, there is free internet at the house which is available to all guests.
What local amenities are available in Alcala la Real?
The town of Alcala la Real has restaurants, bars, grocery stores, banks, pharmacies, clothing stores, several bike shops, and most amenities found in any modern city.
Is the house in Alcala la Real?
The house is not in the town, it is situated about 6 kms outside the town.
Can we use the kitchen in the house?
The kitchen is not for general use, however, afternoon tea will be available every day between 3:30pm and 4:30pm. Drinking water is available in the main house and is free to all guests. Bottled water, soft drinks, wine and beer are available in the fridge located in the garage at the listed prices.
